No balcony here...I don't see many to be honest, just the view from the shuttered windows in the morning...we are thinking as these were all built as fortresses balconies would not be a good idea.
Its rich history dates back 2,300 years ago. Founded by the Greeks from the island of Vis Croatia in the 3rd century BC and they named it Tragurion. Later it was occupied by the Romans and after them the Venetians. It was also ruled by Hungarian and Croatian families and also occupied by the French in the beginning of the 19th. century.
You can almost feel the history when you walk across the smooth cobblestone walkways..
There are scooters and bikes everywhere...it's the best way to get around. Hard when you are driving because at any time you can have a scooter passing you on both sides!
As we are right in Old Town, we just step out our door and people and small tour groups are walking by.
Wandered around the water front to look at the old buildings, churches, fortresses, and palaces...everything has so much history here.
There are cats here too but not as many as other places we have been... and they do not hang around to be touched.
Didn't take long before this happened again....I have lost count... it is so good and usually at the most $2.50 euro, even in busy tourist areas.
There is a big public square and the beer in frosty mugs looked enticing, but as we are literally a 2 minute walk to our place we opted to enjoy our own beer and some cheese, sliced meats and Tuc crackers in our nicely air conditioned room.
Our hosts are so nice, when they heard us leave our apartment this morning, the door to the grandmother's place opened and the young son presented us with a chilled bottle of their homemade red wine. We both really love the home feel of all the places we have stayed at so far. We have felt the Croatian friendliness in these places.
Went for a walk about....it's hot...it's so hot this squirrel came out of the tree and was cooling it's belly on the grass....it was alive all right... when you got too close to it, he would get up, walk a foot and lay right back down the same way..
This Cat was not much better ....
Found some cool places to see.."cool" in appearance.... but better yet..."cool" in temperature...
We don't see many laundromats here but this is the nicest one I have ever seen. Makes me just want to do laundry even though I don't need to!
There are just so many restaurants here. Every town or city has been the same, I mean lots! It makes it so hard to choose. But I think I picked a good one, great food, great prices and reasonably priced bottle of house wine!
It's very common here for them to bring a glass of ice cubes for your white wine.
Enjoyed a stroll along the Riva when it cooled down...this is when it seems to liven up..there are alot of yachts and small cruiselines anchored at the Riva
