June 21 - last day in Trogir

It's pretty warm at night so the air-conditioned stays on. Once again,  about 30 degrees at 8:00ish....

Their is one piece of artwork in the room, and I found out what it is...

The relief of Kairos, the Greek God of Happy Moments, was discovered in an abandoned house of a family from Trogir in 1928. The Greek inscription on the relief dates from the 4th to the 3rd century BC and is the oldest written monument in Trogir area. On this relief from Trogir Kairos is shown as a naked young man on the move, with a tuft of hair one needs to grab at the right moment in order to grab his or her lucky chance or the chance will be lost forever since Kairos is always in a hurry! So, find a moment for yourself, grab your happy moment and come to Trogir!

This is our Greek God Of Happy Moments!

Short road trip day, about half hour or so north along the sea to Primosten.

The Blessed Virgin Mary of Loreto is one of many, old, black Madonnas found in the world. Her image was brought to Primošten in the first half of the 19th century and since then Our Lady of Loreto has been venerated as the patroness of the entire Primošten population and celebrated every year in the parish church of St. George.

The statue is 17.5 meters tall. Its orientation is towards Primosten, which is a sign of protection of the town. The green colour of the Statue is a sign of fertility.

This about says it all...soooo many people smoke here and you can just about do it anywhere!

Great view from the top.

Primosten is a small village in Croatia. It was originally a small cone-shaped rocky island, connected to the mainland by a drawbridge. Later, after the Ottoman intrusions diminished, the artificial dam replaced the bridge. The origin of the name Primošten comes from the Croatian term “pri mosta” or “primostiti” which means at the bridge or to connect through a bridge.

These are statues dedicated to the local fishermen.... and of course a cat!

Walked around the outside of the Old Town. Lots of restaurants and lots of beautiful swimming spots.

The Adriatic Sea in Croatia has a high salt concentration, which contributes to its blue colour. In addition to the salt concentration, the water is also influenced by the winds and currents that come from Africa.

And then this happened....

We had noticed people sitting in their homes etc in the dark but didn't think anything about it. Thought maybe they did not have air conditioning so were keeping cooler...

There was a generator going at a few restaurants and signs said power outage... but thought it was just localized! NOT!
Luckily not long before the power came on in most places....little scary in this heat.

Headed back to Trogir and this drives George crazy! In a 1 km long stretch the speed can change like this!
Then 90, then 40, then 80, then 50, then 80, then 50, then 80, then 40, then 90, turn 60.... you get the idea...no reason, not much changes in density, curves etc...

We have also been looking for this elusive fellow...

So we made our way back to the place in the mayhem of construction...might have followed the GPS and she sent us down a very narrow  one way street...we passed way too many  cars...including a policija....policeman in Croatian.... but he was all good with it!

Chilled for a bit in the air conditioned room....it's pretty darn hot.

Then out for a walk about.....it's about 8:30 and the place is super busy!

And one last Gelato in Trogir...
