June 23 - drive to Plitvicka National Park

We were back and forth on going to Plitvicka Jezera National Park, but I convinced George it's just something we should do.

It was a 2 hour drive each way, and we knew it was going to be busy. Apparently the crowds are less if you go early.... but it's hard to get up early when on vacation. We settled for about a 10:00 leave time...pretty good for us.

Dill was in bloom along the roadways and it really smelled good! There were a ton of cheese and honey stands along the way.

Got into the park at high noon...parking was not bad really, they have a main lot in Parking Lot 1 that was flat then as you wind up the hill in the trees you just park anywhere! It's strange.

Little woodland cutie..

We did not have far to walk before we saw the main falls.

You get a nice view from the top walkway but then you can walk to the waters edge and walk the wooden boardwalks.

Amazingly we did not see anyone fall in!

The water is so clear and so blue!

There were so many fish.

Then after about a 4 km walk, you wait in line for the tour boats to take you across the lake where you can either walk some more or they have busses to take you back to the parking...we opted to walk... the boats take 100 people so we got on the 3 or 4th boat...pretty quick.

Then we hiked the water back and got some different viewpoints along the way..

It was a long day but worth it.

Then into a little village called Nin...a cold one and some good grub!

They have the world's smallest Cathedral.... and it was small...

And the only inhabitants were a family of swallows...
Cool red wine on the balcony to end the day...cheers!

And an update on Lucy....she's doing great, her and Gracie are best buds and play all the time. She's going to miss her holiday home!.... and sleeping on the back of the couch.
