June 22 - Trogir to Privlaka

We had another 2 or so hour drive today. Managed to make our way out of the construction and back on the Toll road to Zadar. There are no flaggers, no directions, no signs, no real safety measures .... you just wing it!

I had my sights set on making it to Zadar to hear the Sea Organ...there are only 3 out there, Zadar Croatia, San Francisco & England.

What George is standing on is in synch with the sea organ and at night it will light up with the sounds of the  sea organ...unfortunately we will most likely only see it during the day, but it was so cool!

The Sea organ  is an architectural sound art object and an experimental musical instrument, which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps.

We were fortunate that it was a windy day as it was quite loud.

Our new place for 3 nights... the room is smallish but the outside area is great! ....one of my favourite things...

And another favourite thing...it's refreshing....not like Palm Springs warm but it's nice to cool off from the heat.

But warm enough for Gorge to get in!

The gardens here are amazing, tomatoes, peppers, onions, squash... and my favourite...Cucumbers....I will try not to steal any through the night.

We talked with our host, this is a family owned property, only about 40 years old, but third generation doing hospitality business. We chatted about the power outage the day before.... she said how back in 1991 they were without power and water for 3 months.

On June 25, 1991, Croatia declared its independence after a referendum. The Serb minority in Croatia did not accept this referendum and founded the Serbian Republic of Krajina. After this, the Yugoslav army, mostly composed of Serbs, responded with war.

She said she still has flashbacks, it was very hard. They boarded up the homes and with no power or water, they did some fishing when they could.... they just did what they could to survive...she was 13...

It's a real small town, lots of sand beaches in the area.
Only about 4 or 5 restaurants,  so we are talking small...makes the decisions way easier for me..Found a casual takeout kinda place. Food was pretty good.

Then back at our place the hosts gave the us some homemade deserts...George died and went to heaven!!   And he even has enough for breakfast tomorrow!
