Morning view...storm brewing over Split!
After a meal of fresh bread, sliced meats and cheeses and fruit we went to check out the private beach for our place. Not too shabby!
Chatted a little more with the girl in the reception. She said come July and August it's unbearable with the tourist. She said Croatia is not a rich country and tourists bring in lots of money but with that comes its pains. She said in summer its hard to cross a street in Split! We are glad we are here now. It's a calm before the storm...
George has been craving a real coffee since we left so when the guy said they had big coffee with cream his face lit up...
Well....here's his BIG COFFEE! It was tasty though.
Stopped in for a walkabout and to get fresh fruit in Omis...funny the girl at our place said watch carefully, many Croatians will steal from you. Not rob you but they will add things to a bill or add mileage to a cab ride....well when we got to our place in Korcula....I had strawberries and grapes.... but my 2 nectarines.... not in the bag...sneaky ladies....
They were very aggressive here when walking through the streets... this is the first place we have really noticed it.
This bridge was impressive, it was built so that you did not have to take ferries to get from Dubrovnik to Split. Otherwise you had to drive through Bosnia.
The Peljesac Bridge allows an alternate route to bypass Bosnia and Herzegovina's coastal strip at Neum, which can save hours spent waiting at the border crossing and ensuring travelers remain in Croatian territory when travelling between those areas. Also for car rental you have to tell them what countries and islands you will visit as they give you surcharges.
Lots of viewpoints and some amazing wineries on the way, which we will check out on our return trip, when we are not running late.
As we were short on time to catch our ferry at 2:30..we took a secondary road! Yikes, the speed limit said it was 90 kms, it was winding and narrow and when oncoming traffic came you had to swerve over into the rocks and gravel!!
Kim & Kath led the way as I could not get the terminal on the car GPS, so we got to watch them cross paths with the oncoming vehicles first!
Lots of vineyards and wineries along the way. Very rural area coming to the ferry in Orelic. But we made it on time!
The water is so clear and clean and blue. Lots and lots of Auto Camps (RV & tent camping) along the coast. Funny, some are like ours, not filled with traveller's but rather filled with people who need a home.
After a quick 15 minute ferry ride we arrived at our home for 4 nights!
Did not disappoint! 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath and the most enormous balcony overlooking the Adriactic Sea....wow!
After a meal of fresh bread, sliced meats and cheeses and fruit we went to check out the private beach for our place. Not too shabby!
It's a very quite area right now, not many tourists and the homes that are here, most seem vacant still.
Cheers from Korcula!
