June 12 - into Split we go

We do have our car but as Split is so busy and the parking can be sparse and costly, we thought it wiser to use Bolt. It's a great deal at 9.8 euro.

Had a late start as Kim & Kath sent us videos of the torrential downpour that was happening.

Also worked well as today....I was off my game! Super tired, achy, and could not eat. But that was not stopping me... after a short nap we were on our way.

2 huge cruise ships were in.

There was a large open air market...everything looked so good...

This was a common sight!

Then for a wandered into the palace.

The Diocletian's Palace is an ancient palace built for the Roman emperor Diocletian at the end of the third century AD, which today forms about half of the old town of Split, Croatia. Very cool and easy to get lost in!

And my windows and doors...

There are little restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries and Gelato everywhere...we've had ourselves lots of Gelato...

Kim & Kath enjoyed some lunch and we enjoyed a cold one!

Then back out to enjoy the  sights, sounds and smells of Split.

Love that the laundry hangs everywhere... even over the restaurant tables below...

There are so many nooks and crannies to discover...a refreshing break from the crowds...

And cats....lots of cats...but they seem well fed and cared for so I suspect the city takes care of them

After a beer break at Kim & Kaths room we had an early dinner at this cute little restaurant.  They said the food was really good....I could only struggle a few pieces of bread and a few mouthfuls of salad...very sad in a city of amazing food...

We parted ways early...we were in the Bolt by 7:00. We had the friendliest and most talkative driver. When he found out we we were from Canada he started with Trudeau. He said the women love Trudeau. He also knew lots about USA politics.

He said life in Croatia, especially the Dalmatian Coast, is good. He said he lives a good life. He said everyone works here, there are essentially no homeless in Split. They work slowly here...there is no urgency, but it will get done.

Said he'd like to go to Canada and also Texas one day because Texas has history.... then he said a phrase with a Texan drawl...

He was so entertaining and sweet all wrapped up into one!
