Had to set the alarm today as if we were going to work. 6:00 wake-up!
Monica was nice enough to provide laundry service for us. The one thing we did not know is they do not use dryers here, they hang everything to dry.....so...because we only gave her the laundry yesterday morning, a few things are on the damp side! She also said if our daughter came to visit Budpest she would take good care of her! So cute!
We only bought a few things here, did not realize how those few things would challenge the zippers on our luggage! Yikes.
Our navigation skills, with the help of technology, are working out just great. Pre-booked the Bolt ride last night and arrived as scheduled.
Got to the bus station in ample time, enough to grab delicious meat and cheese croissant for breakfast and pay one last time, 250 huf ($0.94 cdn) for the last paid toilet break. Left Budapest with 350 huf in my pocket, enough for one more toilet break! Ha ha ha.
Turns out paying an extra $10 euro each for front row seats was a great choice! Like flying first class!!
It's so nice to receive updates on Lucy from Debbie!
The highways are very similar to ours, the real big difference is their fuel & rest stops are AMAZING!!!
But you still pay for toilets...200 huf or $0.76...a bargain...a better bargain when you only have 350 huf and your credit card won't work but you are not too large to squeeze 2 through the turnstile!
And to stretch your body out!!! Voila!
And RV's, not many but they are out there!
And their fuel & rest areas are literally right off the highway, almost like turning into a fuel station downtown!
Two hours into the 4 hour ride and the scenery is much like the Chilliwack or Langley and area...
Got into Zagreb and called for a car through Bolt to take us from the bus station to the Stixt Car Rental. Was going to be cheap, only about 6 euro....he arrived, drove us around the block and up the street then pulled up to a building that he said the address was for. It was not the place. He said yes it was and we needed to get out as he had another pickup. We got our bearings a bit and with Google maps found the place about 3 blocks away. Needless to say I will be asking Bolt for a refund!
Car rental went smooth, and in about half an hour we were off in our rental for 19 days! Cute little car, standard shifting and going to serve us well.
The roads are amazing. Took a main toll road to our new place in Podstrana. There are rest area spots everywhere, some even have Hotels of about maybe a dozen rooms!
I could not contain myself and I started to cry! We made it and it's way more than I expected!
In the rest areas you still have to pay for the toilet $1. Euro but if you buy something they give you a voucher. The nice guy at this place just gave me a voucher and one for my husband...so nice!
After a little over a 4 hour drive from Zagreb to just outside Split we arrived at our place in Podstrana.
Pinch me! It's real! It's so nice...right across the street from the sea! Amazing view!
Walked across the street for a glass of vino and pizza!
Then a relaxing glass of wine to end the night for these weary travelers...cheers!
