June 6 - first wakeup in Buda

Wow! After almost 33 hours of awake time from the time we awoke at home until our heads hit the pillow in Buda....( apart from only about 2 hours of airplane sleep).....we are exhausted & rested all at the same time. 8 hours ahead in time from home is hard on us. Neither of us have ever experienced this.  I told Lisette before I left that I was feeling "stupid" from a brief cold....well....feeling stupid again....we are both fuzzy...woozy....just off.

Left the patio door open last night for the cool breeze...awoke to the sound of the birds...

Awoke at about 6:00 feeling rested....by 7:00 feeling exhausted again and ready for a nap.

Today was expected to be a major chill day...Oriente ourselves... and then  look at what we wanted to do in the coming days....NOT....awoke at about 6:00 feeling like every single thing I packed now needed to be re-organized...while George slept a little more..

Forced ourselves to get up and out the door. Found a great little Bagel and coffee place just minutes from our place.

Such an eclectic quaint little place, great food and coffee and so reasonably priced.

We are staying on the Buda side of Budapest,  the quieter side, Pest being on the other side of the Danube River, being the busier more touristy area. I think I chose well for us..

And oddly enough a lady and her dog sitting inside the coffee house, she said they are very dog friendly here. (Sorry Lu... you were welcome here!)

On the way to the phone store to finally get a sim card...about 5 minutes away from our place...we happened upon the Fishermen's Bastion and Matthias Church!

Pretty brilliant...this is how they clean the streets. A guy walks around sucking up stuff..

Just so much to take in.

George found his place!

View of the Danube River from the outer walls.

Lots of cafes and restaurants inside the walls.

You pay to use the bathrooms at many places...but... what's better are the free bathrooms at the many old hotels.. and usually lots to see inside them as well.

And the doors...I do have a thing for them in these old places...

Then off for the half hour so so walk down the cobbled streets to the Mammut Mall.  Didn't take too long to find it, get reconnected with wifi, a few groceries and then enjoyed the walk back to our place.

A tire store hidden amongst the old buildings.

Lucy update! She's sunning with her friend Gracie. We really do miss her.

Back at our place for a quick drop-off of groceries  but always time for a cold one!

Just next door to our place is this cool restaurant that we have walked  by so many times. Tonight they had a casual music and appie night! Loved the music!

The other reason we love this place is this! They are welcome right inside the restaurants..

Yum yum...Hungarian Goulash soup for us both!

And finish off the night enjoying the view!
Cheers!
